We had a great pancake breakfast fundraiser this morning at Norman McDonald's Country Drive-In in Philpot! My deepest thanks go to Alana, Doug, and Austin Esther who all worked hard serving and making it happen! Thanks to the restaurant owners, Norman Grant and Lisa McDonald, for allowing us to have the event there! And thanks for every person who made donations or came to the breakfast! I can't do this without you!
We will be ordering yard signs and bumper stickers (magnetic) soon, so please contact me if you need one!
God Bless America!

I just wanted to make a quick comment about the health care issue in DC that is coming to a head this weekend. Health care is not a natural God given right. The constitution clearly defines and constrains the federal government's specific areas of control in Article 1, section 8 and health care is not there. This power belongs to the states and the people. You want to solve health care? Allow private citizens and states to solve it! Even if you ignore the constitution, the protests against this bill are too numerous to count. A few are: you cannot mandate every man, woman, and child to purchase health insurance just for existing, there is no proof of citizenship required (talk about bankrupting our country at warp speed!), the mafia like bribes using our tax money to buy votes like the "cornhusker kickback" and the "Louisiana purchase", and the tax funded abortions are all worthy of outrage!

Please call your Representatives today, for tomorrow "we're all socialists now."

What a weekend! It started with a fish fry at Precious Blood. Let me say that their food was wonderful and at a good price! Blessings to the workers who made it all possible. Americans have a great work ethic, especially for charities! I met some wonderful people and many fellow Veterans. I heard about your concerns for attracting a variety of new jobs here for our children's future, about the spending of so much money for the downtown redevelopment project, and about the debt crisis of our nation. With your help, I believe we can solve these problems with limited government and controlled spending. We will need to rely on each other, our families, our churches, and our community family to prosper in the bull and bear cycles of our economy. Strong local government and a less intrusive central government will allow us to usher in an era of self reliance and success like our founders enjoyed.
Saturday I attended the Farm/City Breakfast at Apollo High School. Our farmers have performed better than expected this past year considering the weather not cooperating. I love living in a rural area for many reasons, but the fortitude of farmers and their fine character are top of my list! Rep. Brett Guthrie was the speaker, as amicable as always. Besides our farmers, there were many candidates, public officials, and prominent businessmen present. One person I spoke with had a unique idea for creating lasting jobs and revitalizing downtown: a canal like San Antonio! Crazy? Have you been to San Antonio?! Boats, shops, dining, events. The real question is how far down the path of no return are we concerning downtown? I see no value in temporary jobs of destroying existing buildings to create open public use spaces. Where's the revenue? The unique attractions? In a recession, why this?

Making of America seminar

I neglected to immediately post an amazing seminar last Saturday called, "The Making of America." It is a lecture on The 5,000 Year Leap book by Skousen. His legacy is the National Center for Constitutional Studies (see link). The insights into the founding of America are worth knowing and passing on to everyone you know. The principles of freedom discussed in the book are essential to understanding the constitution and what systems of government our founders studied. Truly a miracle! Some nuggets of knowledge:
1) Life + Liberty = Property
The fruits of your labor (property) are a result of your talents and efforts and time, thus any loss of property (taxation, confiscation, robbery, neglect) is a loss of part of your life.
2) Government exists to protect your property. If we all lived in anarchy, no property would be safe or accumulated, since it would be taken easily. Men are not angels, and need government to provide protection.
3) Natural Law is still hard for me to define! It is not relating to mother nature, as the word nature is used today. Natural law to our founders meant that the Creator made us and this world. Natural rights have been given to us by the Creator (inalienable) and cannot be taken away or violated without coming under the judgment and wrath of the Creator (life, liberty, and pursuit of property and peace-happiness). Vested rights are created by man and can be changed at any time (driver's license). Now you can easily understand why "government health care" is not a natural right under the constitution.
4) Communism was tried and rejected as utter failures very early in our history with Jamestown and Plymouth. Can't we learn?
5) 17th amendment took power away from states in congress. Loss of check and balance.

I could go on and on, but you'll just have to check out the link for NCCS.

Republican Women Club

Today I was honored to attend the Republican Women's Club where Mrs. Rand Paul was the guest speaker. We had many local and state candidates represented or in attendance, including myself and Mr. Paul Estep pictured below. How encouraging to see more limited government Republicans coming out to serve! What I remember most from Mrs. Paul's speech was about Rand's character. He has been instrumental in getting the citizens informed and involved in their government, he has donated much of time and his skill as a physician to those in need here and abroad, he is an involved father to three boys, and he has "boundless energy." I must humbly admit here that I don't have boundless energy, but a passionate belief in the people to restore our constitutional government. We are in the midst of an American Revolution, a revolution of the return of common sense, of an informed electorate, of constitutional awareness, of public servants not career politicians, of returning the power to the people. In a country where the elites in Washington are forcing unpopular and harmful unconstitutional laws on it's citizenry, the only question that remains is, "Is it too late?" If you truly understand that the power is in the hands of the people to give via election, then it is never too late! Choose wisely.
